Crews are currently replacing 100,000 linear feet of joint sealant between the concrete slabs used for airfield parking and taxiways.
“Much of the existing sealant is 30 to 40 years old,” explained Airfield Facilities Assistant Manager Winston Rogers. “As it deteriorates, it can become a FOD (foreign object damage) hazard to aircraft turning up or taxiing along the NAS Jacksonville flight line.”
