For a naval air station that dates back to before the attack on Pearl Harbor, it’s not surprising that the apron (aircraft parking area) is showing its age through cracked and shattered concrete slabs.
“The deteriorating slabs – that typically measure 12x12 or 15x15 feet – represent a potential FOD (foreign object damage) hazard to our aircraft that must be repaired immediately,” said NAS Jax Airfield Facilities Assistant Manager Winston Rogers.
